Reflecting on Our First Year at Steady Studios

Jul 3, 2024

As we celebrate our one-year milestone at Steady Studios, we are filled with immense pride and gratitude for the journey we've embarked on. What began as a pilot program for LEGO Coding has blossomed into a vibrant and impactful initiative, reaching and inspiring young minds across multiple communities.

A Year of Growth and Impact

In our first year, we have had the privilege of introducing technology and coding through LEGO to countless students. Our partnership with the Community Foundation Merced County has been instrumental in this journey, enabling us to offer free classes to students in Merced City. This collaboration has allowed us to break down barriers and ensure that more children have access to valuable learning opportunities.

Our reach has extended beyond Merced City to Merced County, Stanislaus County, and Fresno County. We have hosted field trips for students from Hoover Middle School and Cesar Chavez, providing hands-on experiences that ignite curiosity and creativity. These field trips have not only been educational but also incredibly fun for the students, fostering a love for technology and innovation.

This summer has been particularly special as we partnered with the Boys & Girls Club (BGC) and Merced City School District (MCSD) to offer our LEGO Coding programming to over 400 students. This partnership has significantly amplified our impact, allowing us to reach a broader audience and make a meaningful difference in the lives of many children.

We are also proud to have attended the California School Board Association (CSBA) conference to gain a better understanding of the importance of advancing the use of technology in education. This event provided us the opportunity to showcase our initiatives to top individuals in school districts around California, further solidifying our commitment to educational advancement.

Building for the Future

We just wrapped up a 10-month Sustainability workshop with HandsOn California and First Five, where we learned the ins and outs of running a nonprofit and how to be sustainable for years to come. This invaluable experience has equipped us with the knowledge and skills to ensure that Steady Studios can continue to thrive and grow.

Over Spring Break, we had the privilege of offering LEGO Coding classes remotely to school districts in Yuba City and Los Angeles. This expansion of our remote learning capabilities has opened new doors for us to reach students beyond our immediate community.

In May, we piloted our first Minecraft Education class, and we look forward to expanding our Minecraft programming starting in August. This new offering is an exciting addition to our curriculum, providing another innovative way for students to engage with technology and learning.

Expanding Our Reach

As we reflect on our achievements, we are motivated to continue growing and expanding our reach. We are looking to extend our footprint to small communities within Merced County and further our impact. Additionally, we are excited to start our very own LEGO Team to take part in the LEGO FIRST League, competing against teams from around the world.

We are proud to have a LEGO and Minecraft ambassador on our team who brings knowledge, experience, and innovative ideas to challenge our students with their lessons. Their expertise ensures that our programs remain cutting-edge and highly engaging for all participants.

The success of this past year is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion of our team, partners, and supporters. We are committed to building on this foundation and exploring new ways to inspire and educate the next generation of innovators.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey. We look forward to another year of creativity, learning, and making a positive impact on our community.

With gratitude,

The Steady Studios Team
